Coughing too much to sleep, so I'll take another punt at this.
This is the mock layout I made for the cloning lab screen:
it's missing a couple of details, but the basics are there. Bright green, bright red. bright yellow, orange and black. Hmmm. Maybe a re-colour really is a good idea.
OK, so how to change it? I'd like to keep the green tube, so let's see if I can base a scheme around that. So let's try a scheme based around #2FE21A (value selected by dragging sliders around at random...)
I can see how that could work out a bit easier on the eye. It's a bit too green for my taste, though. I'd like a bit more contrast between the borders and the text, for instance. I think the problem there is that my base colour is almost pure green, which doesn't give the colour scheme a lot with which to work.
On the other, if I add in lot of blue, then everything ends up as shades of turquoise, and the whole thing descends into delicate pastel colours, which is definitely not the effect I'm after,
I'll maybe give that another go tomorrow. Let's try sleeping again for now :)
