Verdigris backgrounds

OK, I admit it. I enjoy playing with the Gimp and trying out colour schemes. And since it turns out I misunderstood what Amoeba was getting at a few posts back I thought I'd try again. It probably doesn't help that I'm unfamiliar with Exalted Infernal.

Anyway, this is the one I cobbled together for the last lot of images.

This is the new one. I started out with the streakiness in this one,  overlayed some colour on top, and then attacked it with a few grunge brushes. It looks a lot more like a real surface than the first one, so that's got to be good.

On the other hand, it's still a bit green. So I took some more grunge and slapped some low opacity red and orange on top.

Not sure which I like best, really.

This is green dominant on background #2

Same with yellow dominant

And with the third background:

I've been looking at these so long now, I just can't tell any more...

[edit]

OK, one more:

Threw some more red and black at #3. I quite like the result. I'll have to try sticking the controls on top of it and seeing what that looks like, But not right now...

May be blue tones will be better than green? Too much green feel like acidpool.
